I've had a few over the years, but I've swapped them out or lost them to a loan or a move.  Now I'm thinking about getting one (again).  There's the

Chez Panisse Menu Cookbook

Chez Panisse Cafe Cookbook

Chez Panisse Cooking

Chez Panisse Pasta Pizza & Calzone

Chez Panisse Desserts

Chez Panisse Fruit

Chez Panisse Vegetables

40 Years of Chez Panisse

...to name a few.

Does anyone have a favorite (or favorites)?  One that you actually use on a regular basis?  Or should I just get the Cheeseboard cookbook instead?

I've got most of those on your list - but my favourite by far is Chez Panisse Desserts.  If I could only have just one dessert cookbook (and that would be a sacrifice) this would be it.  My copy is actually a first edition, something I didn't realize until many years after I bought it and it's not exactly pristine.

There's always a reason to reference a Chez Panisse book, for ideas, comparison, directions and a whole raft of useful information.

My Chez Panisse Cooking has pages falling out of it and every year I make those fantastic pickled yellow beans with beans from the garden.

I don't think you can go wrong by having them on your bookshelves.

The least useful IMO is the Menu cookbook -- interesting as history, but not really a cookbook for consulting often.

I hear excellent things about Chez Panisse Vegetables, and that's the one that appeals to me most as a topic.  Have yet to see one in person, though.

I have all on the list.  My most used is vegtables and fruit.  I love just reading the books also.

All good suggestions!  I *did* see the Vegetables and Fruits cookbooks at a used bookstore last weekend... didn't have the $ to pick them up then, but I do believe I'll go back and see (fingers crossed) if they're still there.

I haven't ever had Desserts, but based on your praises, foodelf, I'll definitely search it out.

Keep 'em coming!!!

I also love Chez Panisse Desserts -- I haven't made as many recipes out of it as I would like, but all the ones I have tried have been fabulous. In fact, this has me dreaming of summer and the most deliciously tart plum sorbet I made from this cookbook a few years ago!

Another vote for Chez Panisse Desserts. I've used it 10x as much as my others from that list.  Others are great, but I likes me the desserts.  I especially like the ice cream recipes, which are tops.
