I would like to make a pesto. I type "pesto" into the search box, but instead of seeing all the pesto recipes which I know are in my cookbook, I see a list of recipes that don't even include pesto as an ingredient. It seems like there might be a bug with search. Very frustrating. Is anyone else experiencing unexpected search results?

Whenever you search, you will get much better results if you use the filters on the right rather than the word search.  The word search looks for every appearance of the words in book title, author, recipe title  and ingredients, incuding any variation of the ingredient name.  So a search just using pesto as search will include recipes containing pre-made pesto

If you add the filter "Sauces, general" under the filter Recipe types, Side dishes then you will only see recipes for pesto sauce - you can see this in the Library here.  Some of those recipes have a pesto recipe as part of another recipe, some recipes are just for pesto sauce.

Another option is to search using the filter "Pasta doughs & sauces" under Recipes types, Dish types - you can see that in the Library here. However this search will include recipes for pasta with pre-made pesto sauce,, which is not what you want here.

There is a section in Help on using the filters here.  There is also a helpful video that shows you how to use the search functions on EYB.

Even using the filters as you suggest, I am not getting good results. For example, when I search for pesto and filter it to pasta sauces, the first few results have nothing to do with pesto, as the recipe name OR as an ingredient. Surely, pesto recipes should come up first in that search.

As I said in my previous response, searching by "Pasta doughs & sauces" will include recipes that have pesto as an ingredient.  You are better using my other suggestion "Sauces - general" which are then just recipes for pesto or for recipes that have a pesto recipe included.

Looking into this issue further it seems there is an issue on our search that it is looking for other instances of a word in other ingredients.  So for example we have an ingredient "basil pesto" so your search is also showing recipes with the ingredient basil, which is obviously not what you want.  I have passed this issue onto our developers to get it fixed.
