I am interested if any of you have written your own cookbook for family and/or friends and if so what process you used.  I am looking at starting to put together a cookbook like this and have ideas but really have no idea where to begin and would appreciate input.  I would like for it to be as polished as possible while retaining a very personal viewpoint.  Any ideas, suggestions or personal experience you would care to share?

I use the on-line program Cook'n to save all my personal recipes that I use and it has the feature to print a cookbook once they are in the program, with index and everything. I keep adding recipes so I have not printed yet, but it is also a great way to be able to find the ones I use the most and want to use again. They also have a newsletter with recipes weekly and you can also download on-line cookbooks. Check it out!

It sounds great! Unfortunately, they don't have a Mac version yet, although one is promised soon. I'd love to put together my own cookbook, but I'd also like to enter the cookbook my mother made (back when typing and Xeroxing were the alternatives for word processing) of her mother's recipes. She ran off a bunch of copies that she sent to family members years ago, but it would be great to have a copy that's more easy to share!

Thanks so much Slocumj for the great info.  I'm checking it out and looks very useful.

Hi, Julia. Yes, I'm in Overland Park! Wonder how many other Kansas Citians there are on EYB? Glad you're enjoying the site -- it's been great for corralling all my cookbooks and making them useful!
