How do I exclude from search results the recipes that I never want to make again? I'm thinking of creating a "never again" bookmark, but don't think I can deselect by bookmarks. If I give these recipes a half star rating, currently that can be altered by the ratings of others, gives it a rating higher than untried recipes, and anyway I don't think I can search by my own ratings alone. Also if I give the disliked recipe any rating or comment at all, that adds to the "buzz".

I'm sure EYB has a plan to facilitate excluding disliked recipes. My preferred option would be the "never again" bookmark with the facility to deselect bookmarks from search results. Will this be happening? If so I'll start bookmarking!

We definitely want to improve the role of Bookmarks in the future - excluding as you say (in the same way as you can with ingredients and categories).  And also allowing multiple selections at the same time so you can for example select Location and also Favorites.

I agree with Eurydice that deselecting on bookmarks should be possible.

Not just for "tried and failed" recipes, but also for recipes that I don't want to use because of dietary restrictions. When it is a particular ingredient I can deselect that, but often there are several. And sometimes they are hidden in the store cupboard ingredients.

Move this up the priority list? Please?

First I'd like to encourage everyone to rate more often.  The vast majority of my recipes are un-rated, and I think it helps.

Next, I'd like to see EYB add a check box or something so I can see that I was one of the raters. May sound silly but sometimes I forget.

Because this is absent, I use tags a lot to help me flag my favorites.

We would love people to rate and add Notes more often - the more members who do this, the more useful the site becomes for all.

Lee - you can see if you have rated a recipe by hovering your mouse over the stars.  If you have already rated it, a pop-up will appear saying "Your rating is x".  You can change your rating on any recipe you have previously rated.

I too would love to be able to hide recipes from books so they don't appear in the list or in the search; I'm never going to need how to make stock / boil an egg nowadays for example, or maybe I don't want to see all the Christmas recipes until Winter, or I love some recipes from book X but as a vegetarian I don't want to include the meat ones.

goldtopgirl - although you can't exclude your own personal bookmarks, you can exclude any EYB categories and ingredients.  So if you wanted to exclude all recipes that use meat in your searches, then you can use the filters, in the same way you can exclude all Christmas recipes.  This is explained here How do I exclude certain ingredients or categories in my Recipe search?

Hope this helps.
