Just a heads up to all the cookbook lovers here....Chowhound currently has a thread encouraging folks to post photos of their shelves/bookcases etc.

The original poster is also looking for feedback on their own collection.  If you're interested in joining in the fun, here's the link to that thread:

i checked out your photos. You have a host of Barefoot Contessa books. They are well up in the popularity list on EYB. Which two do you think are the best?

Hi Cati.  I do love Ina, she's one of my favourite cookbook authors because her recipes and instructions are clearly written and you can always count on them to turn out.  It's really tough to pick 2 favourites because I love all of them but if I had to choose, I'd go with:

Barefoot Contessa at Home: Everyday Recipes You'll Make Over and Over Again

Barefoot Contessa How Easy Is That?: Fabulous Recipes & Easy Tips

I hope you share some photos of your books Cati, I'd love to see them.

Ah, this is one of the pleasures of EYB!  I don't (yet) own a Barefoot Contessa book but knew one of those recommended above was in one of my bookmarks for books not actually in my possession -- and it turned out to be in the 'Library' list.  So I'm off to town tomorrow to check it out.  Thank you all for this thread.

Maybe batteries will last long enough in the camera tomorrow morning to take a couple of pics of my modest actual kitchen bookshelves (dwarfed by EYB bookmark "shelves" 'Wishlist' and 'Browse').

Thanks Breadcrumbs for your reply. After seeing Ina's name mentioned so often while browsing EYB blogs and being intrigued by the name "Barefoot Contessa", last month I bought two online via EYB. I chose Barefoot Contessa Cookbook and Barefoot Contessa at Home republished in UK in 2012 and 2011 respectively. am enjoying them both but wondered how my choice rated. I like this style of book where the author chats to you about the recipe and the photos are beautiful too.
Now that I don't get out much and anyway dining out is a pain on a restrictive low salt diet instead I spend money shopping for cookbooks via EYB, UK depository is freight free to Australia and delivered right to your kitchen door!. The style of cookbooks has changed so much over the years I cant resist getting some up to date ones.
As for posting photos of bookshelves, haven't a clue how to go about it.I could take the photos but then I wouldnt know wha to do next!

Hi ellabee & Cati,

I'm sure you'll both love Ina's books.  The photos accurately depict how the dishes will turn out and another great thing about Ina's books is that there are a lot of photos!

ellabee I hope you're able to add your photo to the thread....a collection doesn't have to be big to inspire others...in fact when I see smaller collections I pay special attention as I appreciate that someone is more discerning than I am and I'm keen to see what they've chosen.

Cati if you have a digital camera it is very straightforward to post photos on Chowhound. I'll be happy to provide instructions if you'd like. I'd love to see your collection.   You made 2 great choices w your BC cookbooks.  I love the Barefoot Contessa book.  I've been cooking from all her books long before EYB and unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to go through them and transfer all my handwritten notes here.   That said, from BC the hummus is a house favourite here, the sushi dipping sauce is great for lots of things including dumplings/goyza, roasted eggplant spread is on today's menu...we love it, I've made all the soups and they're all wonderful..we've had the roasted tomato basil twice this summer already! The peach &  raspberry crisp is amazing too!!  In fact I think I'll have to keep this off the shelf as I'm planning my menu this week...I'd forgotten how many great summer recipes were in here! I see you have some Donna Hay on your shelf...she's one of my favourites too. Her Lemon Chicken Pasta in OTS is one of our all-time favourite dinners.

I'm going to see if mr breadcrumbs (a far better photographer than I!!) will take some photos of some of my other shelves for that thread. I took a peek this morning and I see more folks are posting photos.   Very dangerous...I've already ordered 2 books from the original poster's photos.

Have now responded to Breadcrumbs' kind prodding, and posted pics of my kitchen cookbook shelves.

Off to put together a Caesar salad club sandwich on ciabatta bread from Barefoot Contessa at Home!
