Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Cabbage and bacon soup

    • IowanCorn on November 06, 2023

A good comfort food recipe. I used ham instead of bacon, but even then. with the amounts used, it wasn't really necessary. I think it would be fine without the pork, as it's just an add in at the end, and really doesn't flavor much. It was even better the day after, but the fennel does become more pronounced the longer it sits.

  • Chicken osso buco-style with penne

    • IowanCorn on March 21, 2024

Very tasty, a bit messy to eat, but one to do, regardless. I had to make a few substitutions since I made this at the last moment for dinner. It is definitely an easy dish for a weeknight. The subs were easily made - large elbow macaroni for the penne, and leftover pasta sauce for tomato sauce (I swore I had some when I started) and then grains of paradise for black pepper, because I had some. It's a very filling dish.

  • Spinach, fennel, and portobello mushroom salad

    • eve_kloepper on February 20, 2016

way too much olive oil for 4 servings, and out of balance with amount of balsamic called for. adjust to taste.
