Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Peanut butter dream bars

There wasn't enough of each ingredient for eat layer--would be better in a smaller pan. The actual bars were generous enough size--it was just hard to spread the chocolate and other layers over the whole bottom of the pan.

Publishers Text

Cook Yourself Thin offers a simple way to lose weight and be healthy without losing your mind. This is not your ordinary diet book. There is no regimented plan you have to follow to lose the weight (only to put back on as soon as you go off it). The book shows tricks and tips to help you lose 5 lbs and start eating healthy...for life.

The concept of the show is to help viewers not only know what they're eating but teach them how to cook good food fast with simple, healthy ingredients. Three female hosts (one is a carryover from the UK show; the other is Allison Fishman, creator of the wooden-spoon.com) teach a guest to cook a lower-fat version of their favorite meals on the hour-long program, and then visit their guest in their home a month later to check on their progress.

The book includes 80 recipes--divided by breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, dessert--color photographs of the food, a quick calorie guide, a list of the big (and surprise) calorie offenders, a food personality quiz, ingredients for success (i.e. what to have in your pantry), and testimonials from guests on the show, along with the host bios. This has the potential to be any woman's food bible.

Cook Yourself Thin shows readers how to cut calories without compromising on taste. Fast, easy, delicious takes on your favorite foods like mac & cheese, spaghetti & meatballs, pizza, chocolate cake, and more!
