  • Penne with cabbage and potatoes

    • Delys77 on February 04, 2015

I would definitely make this again. I have had a few different iterations of pasta with potatoes and i often found them a bit lacking in complexity. In this case the whole wheat pasta, mixture of cheeses, and the silky smooth cabbage offered a very good mix of ingredients. Plus the recipe directs you to mash the potatoes into the sauce, which is logical since the potatoes in my previous attempts usually fell apart anyway, might as well blend them into a sauce. I will say that I did steam my vegetables for closer to 17 minutes than the proposed 10.

  • Spicy green bean and tofu stir-fry with ground bison

    • kelly.eleazer on October 10, 2021

Served over 1/2 cauliflower rice 1/2 basmati rice (seasoned with tamari, ground garlic, ground ginger, pepper). Marinated the tofu in beef stock for about 15 min before cooking, to give flavor to the tofu.

  • Slow-grilled rack of lamb with mustard and herbs

    • TrishaCP on August 18, 2012

Not a groundbreaking recipe, but easy enough for a weeknight meal if you use a pre-made jam.

  • Swiss chard and leek gratin

    • fprincess on December 20, 2011

This is basic and pretty good. Make sure to cook this longer to develop some color, unlike the unappetizing picture that is shown in the magazine!

  • Momma Rochelle's gumbo

    • Breadcrumbs on March 11, 2016

Prepared for a New Year's Day menu. Outstanding! Well worth repeating.

  • Pressure-cooker stock

    • Bitten Word

The process is incredibly easy. ... The stock has the flavor of something that's been simmering on the stove for far longer than that.

  • Apple cider cream pie

Despite all of my mistakes, this was one of the most enjoyable pies ever. The custard is pleasantly sour and the cinnamon scented whipped cream is perfect. I love it. This recipe is a real keeper...
