Celebrating Australia Day with some of our favorite bloggers

Australian cheesecake

It's Australia Day and this gives us a chance to say "hi" to some of our most avid (and friendly) EYB community members. We also thought we'd give a shout out to the work of food bloggers down under. Here are some of our favorites - all indexed here at EYB - that will give you an idea of the diversity and some of the intriguing flavors coming out of the area. And isn't it a lot of fun to read about summer food in the middle of winter?

  • What Katie Ate: Some of the most beautiful food photography on the web, with recipes (Katie Quinn Davies)
  • Stonesoup: Quick & easy recipes, most made with just five ingredients (Jules Clancy)
  • Citrus and Candy: Comfort food, fusion cuisine by an   "average vegemite-happy, beach-goin', road-trippin', flip-floppin', pub-rockin', Holden-hooning, car-loving, Cold Chisel-grunting, meat-pie-shovelling tomboy Aussie girl." (Karen Low)
  • Gourmet Chick: Includes travel and restaurant rviews (Cara Waters)
  • Delicieux: Vegetarian - healthy and sinful (Jennifer Schmidt)
  • Raspberri Cupcakes: Focused on baking (Stephanie Hooi, who has the credit for the photo above of her Australian Milo cheesecake with chocolate crackle crust )

We know there are a lot more great Aussie bloggers - if you have some favorites, feel free to share.

I would dearly love a piece of milo cheesecake with chocolate crackle crust! Can barely restrain myself from making it. Is there a low-cholesterol version? I guess not :( I hope everyone had a happy Australia Day . Ours was dramatised by the (temporary) ending of the heatwave with a massive dump of much-needed rain. Too much some might say though one is reluctant to complain. At least where we are we were able to watch the women's singles final of the Australian Open tennis without power blackouts.
