World's fastest apple peeler?

Fastest apple peeler

The internet abounds with "tips and tricks" to make cooking tasks easier. We've seen using water bottles to separate eggs, "spanking" pomegranates, and a slew of other time-saving methods. Some of the tips are questionable, but this one looks promising, if potientially a bit dangerous. Using a simple cordless drill and a standard "Y" peeler, Chef Jasper van Ramshorst peels apples with amazing speed. (You can also see the technique on the chef's facebook page.) The technique should work on anything round, or even anything you can get a drill bit into. It appears that the chef is using a standard drill bit, but a paddle bit would work as well.

If you try this technique, please be careful, but do let us know if it's as good as it seems!

What a fun story! I forwarded this on to my inventive brother yesterday to share with my young nephews whom I thought would love watching the video. Well my brother is now off and running making a custom polypropylene drill bit just for this purpose that can be tossed into the dishwasher. I will keep you posted as to how it works.

I saw this on fb a few days ago, hilarious and useful. Love it! And have already shared it around. Can't wait to try it. A friend who bakes and sells apple cakes is delighted and planning to try it, too.
