Beat the heat (and save time) with no bake desserts

No bake desserts

Recently we looked at cool stuff to drink when the temperature rises, and today we turn to desserts. Often you'd like to have a little something sweet to end a meal, take to a potluck or picnic, or share with friends along with iced tea on a warm afternoon. The last thing you want to do, however, is turn on the oven and heat up the entire kitchen.

That's when the EYB Library comes in handy, as you can easily look up no-bake treats and desserts. Hundreds of recipes are available online, and it's not just the frequently found (yet still delicious!) no-bake drop cookies. There are recipes for bars, brownies & slices, luscious pies, icebox cakes, and a plethora of cheesecakes.

Although the searches above can save you time, if you want to build your own search please note that it's best to eliminate any dashes or punctuation. For example, "no-bake" yields fewer results than "no bake." Don't forget to try "no cook" as well, as there are some great recipes that use that title instead. You can also use the filters to narrow down your choices, in case you have a specific ingredient or recipe type in mind. Whatever criteria you choose, you'll find many options for great desserts and treats that won't make your kitchen into an inferno.

I can also heartily recommend many of the treats in Bakeless Sweets, a cookbook by Faith Durand (of The Kitchn site), which I won in an early EYB giveaway. Panna cotta is a perfect summer treat, showing off whatever fruits are at their peak.
