The Vintage Baker

Title:  The Vintage Baker: More Than 50 Recipes from Pecan Butterscotch Curls to Sour Cream Jumbles Author:  Jessie Sheehan About the author:  Jessie left the legal field to work at Baked in Red Hook, Brooklyn as an assistant pastry chef. While there, she worked on the first two Baked books and even after leaving the bakery did extensive development work on the third and fourth Baked titles as well as other freelance work. She is the voice behind Jessie Sheehan Bakes, author of Icebox Cakes, The Vintage Baker and is working on her third solo title. For more information, see the author’s bio page. What’s to love:
  • Jessie mixes nostalgia with modern techniques in this brilliantly executed gem of a cookbook
  • The “vintage recipes” booklet tucked inside is a bonus surprise that provides a glimpse into our mothers’ and grandmothers’ time
  • The author recently shared a version of her Sour cream jumbles on her website. I want to make these for our July 4th celebration with red, white and blue sprinkles!
  • There is everything to love about The Vintage Baker  – Jessie’s headnotes, the retro photographs, the nod to the past while perfecting the desserts for today’s baker and kitchen, the gift of the “vintage recipes” brochure and so much more!
  • Grab your vintage mixing bowl and bake something new but familiar this week!
