I am sure others have asked for this, but deleting individual recipes becomes more urgent as your recipe bookshelf groans under all the books, blogs posts and magazines. I know there are recipes I will never want to cook, so deleting them would be a good thing. Or maybe archive them, with the option to include the archive when you search? (Actually I like this second option much better)

You don't have individual recipes on your Bookshelf (apart from online recipes you have added one-by-one) but books, magazines and blogs. If we allowed members to add each individual recipe then the site would run much slower - for every member, no matter how much they had on their Bookshelf. So you cannot delete individual recipes from books, magazines and blogs since that is not how they are stored.

I suggest you approach this the other way round and bookmark the recipes you are interested in so when you search you can filter just to those recipes you know you like. Then if you don't find what you want, you remove the filter and search your entire Bookshelf (your archive in your scenario).

Since we added the 'I've Cooked This' and 'I Want to Cook This' bookmarks I have started going through my own books, adding those bookmarks. This means I will be able to reduce my search results initially to a more manageable number.

I've said it before, but I would really like if apart from the orange and green marks for "I want to cook this" and "I've cooked this" there would be black marks for for "I don't want too cook this", so we could tell them apart at a glance from the "I've not taken a good look at this recipe yet" bulk. It would be the next best thing to actually deleting recipes, and it seems to me the coding should be doable.

That is a good idea wester - I don't remember hearing it before. I will pass it on to our developer.

Thanks. I did feel the idea had probably gotten lost in the buzz around the new colored bookmarks.

I think it is a great idea too!

Just a note though that you can delete recipes that you have added individually, it seems. Just not the ones that belong to books, magazines or blogs you have in your library. I know only remotely useful, because why would you add a recipe to your bookshelf that you don't want to cook (when you are absent minded like me it looks like!)
