Hi.

I'm a newbie to the site.  LOVE the idea for how this works and am looking forward to getting used to navigating it.  A quick suggestion that would make setting up my library easier.  When I went to Magazines and entered Cooking Light - I had to either go through manually and enter every magazine, issue by issue, or click the button saying add future issues.  I have magazines going back to the 90s.  Since I've moved so much though, I don't always have all the issues from a particular year.  I would love an option that simply brought up a list of the issues from the year and let me check the boxes on the ones that I have and then click enter, as opposed to having to click on each issue and then go to the next. That type of functionality would also be nice when you enter a cookbook author's name and can just check a box for the ones you have hit enter to add all of the ones you have to the library instead of scrolling through and entering them one at a time.

If there is this type of functionality and I don't know how to use the site, my apologies...

Hi Ann and welcome to EYB. If you have all issues of Cooking Light for a set period you would enter the date range you own. You could not go back to the 90s though as we do not go back that far in our Library listings. The earliest issue we have is from 1/1/2008.

If you just own individual issues, not everything in the range, you call up the magazine using the list in Browse in the right column, and go down the list clicking +Bookshelf for those you own. The problem with having the type of check box you suggest is that we would not then be able to present the back issues and future options to any member adding just one of the issues. What I mean is, how would a check box system differentiate between someone adding their first magazine issue and you wanting to add a lot of issues?

For adding cookbooks from the Library to your Bookshelf it is just one click on +Bookshelf for each book you own. I don't understand how that is different to your suggestion of a check box next to each book that you click then press Enter when you have finished making your selections. Isn't your version one click more? If I have misunderstood, please give further info and I will try to help.

Thanks.  I'll try this.  In thinking about my reaction when initially going through, I found it fairly tedious to have to scroll and click.  The pictures are helpful when you're inputting the cookbooks, especially when there are multiple versions.  But I was thinking about how much easier it would be to have a list of 12 months with boxes in a 2 inch column that I could easily click down (kind of like my email when selecting stuff to delete) instead of having to scroll and click through everything.
