1. A tick box after books in common to exclude books in common so that you can see what people have that you dont

2. A link to Amazon that would return a total value of your collection based on todays prices. (fun thing)

3. Be able to mark your books if you are interested in selling particular ones

4. Be able to rate your top 10 books and then this cross references with others to generate a global top 10

Just some thoughts

Thanks Atomizer for the feedback - always welcome.

1. That should be possible and it is added to our development to-do list.

2. Nice idea, but I don't think that would be feasible. We are limited on the number of calls we can make to the Amazon API and if someone with thousands of books wanted to know the value of their collection, that would probably tip us over the limit. All our other API requests are low level such as importing data for new books.

3. We have been asked before about getting involved in cookbook swaps or cookbook sales. We are definitely avoiding that area. No matter how many qualifiers we put in our terms & conditions (which most people never read anyway) members will still ask us to intervene in disputes - I paid for the book and it never arrived, the book was damaged and the seller won't refund me, the quality is not as it was described, etc.

4. That's a good idea and has been added to our list. Ranked top 10 or equally best top 10?

Another idea, unless it's already something I can do and just don't know how...

Some sort of bookmark for cookbooks for books you'd like to buy. Something like "I want to buy this" for the entire cookbook.

MarciK - that's a wishlist and it is on our to-do list. The idea would be you could create the list without adding the books to your Bookshelf. If however you don't mind the recipes appearing in your searches (it would give you some idea as to how often there are recipes in those books that you want to cook) you can add them now and create a Wishlist bookmark.

I still just want to be able to search my own notes so I can easily find that chicken recipe that I can't remember the name of.

I second searching my notes

I know you can pull recipe names if you add I cooked that bookmark when making notes but I tend to forget to add that as it is another step. If I cooked that bookmark is also automatically added when notes are made, that will work better for me.

Also, it is still not possible to search notes or I cooked that bookmark as far as I can see.

After posting above, I discovered that you can search I’ve cooked this bookmark by going to recipes and typing whatever I am looking for in the search box. I typed biscuits and were able to pull those recipes I have made and made notes as well as included in I’ve cooked that bookmark.

Thanks Rinshin I have never tried this. Very helpful!

Rinshin - if you click the chef's hat before the recipe title when adding your note, you can add the I've cooked this bookmark, the date cooked, and the note, all at the same time. Just make sure to change the check box under the note so it isn't private is you want your notes to be seen by everyone. I think we should change this to default to public and has to be checked for private.

Hi Jane - I think changing the default Note to public would be excellent, as I frequently forget to click the button when adding a note!

Thanks for this info Jane.

Rinshin, the chef's hat only appears if you're in My Bookshelf rather than the Library (see the three tabs at top of screen - it's the same on computer, iPad or phone).  In My Bookshelf you only see the recipes in your books, magazines and blogs.

Beg to differ...automatic Public Note would invite a cascade of notes meant to be personal, e.g., "...page 210, forgot that Jill was allergic to shrimp". Personally would prefer to use Notes as literally that..notes to me...with the information made public if the content warrants it.

Thank you FJT! I finally see it. It is left of the recipe name. I was looking at top.

1. Guest cookbook author feature profiles. Can be as brief as 5 question format for all: favorite three cookbooks ; what is your favorite recipe in your book/s; do you have a go to blog/chef/restaurant; fav kitchen disaster/victory/laughable/eureka moments; tell us about what led you to become a cookbook author.

2. Use incentives to have members index such as free annual membership for indexing fifty books that are on a top list of cookbooks you provide.

3. Provide an easy way to see recipes members mark ❤️ in a list. A weekly list of member top ten would give you a way to mention these are indexed books with links to Amazon to buy. Realize this only works if members have easy way to mark and do so. But if not weekly, quarterly?
