Imagine my dismay when I bookmarked a recipe for sour-tamarind rum balls (looking for an alternative to cocoa based) and discovered that my "Soul of a New Cuisine" is actually "Discovery of a Continent"! This is his follow up book from 2007 with an almost IDENTICAL cover- he is facing forward instead of backward in the cover photo. A new copy of SONC is $80 now 🤦🏻‍♀️

This goes against the grain as someone has probably broken copyright doing this: you can google it (as I just did) and find a PDF copy of the book available online.

Not probably broken copyright FJT, definitely. This is why we only ever link to recipes reproduced with the publisher's permission. And obviously all our EYBDigital Preview recipes (almost 2,000 now) are reproduced with the publisher's permission.

I wouldn't pirate a copy of the book. If I want it badly enough, it will probably be a used $27 copy rather than new. Besides, tamarind rum balls do not appeal to me & I found other more traditional non-cocoa recipes in the Library.

Where is it $80? I just looked on Amazon and new copies are ~$27US and used copies even cheaper. I'm sure ordering from a local bookstores will be probably at most ~$40. 

That is so strange. I swear Amazon manipulates prices when they KNOW you want something. I have seen the price for things go up when I've looked at them more than once. I just got SONC paperback for $27. Thank you!

ETA-today's Amazon price of the paperback version of Soul is $77 new 🤷🏻‍♀️ouch
