Magazines are rather different than books. The books data imports automatically from Nielsen or Amazon - so the ISBN, title, author, cover, format, and sometimes a category or two gets added to the database. But for magazines there is no unique identifying number for each magazine issue so there is no way to import the data - we therefore have to manually add the information for each issue and locate online and import the magazine cover.
We therefore only add magazines that are going to be indexed. There is also no particular reason to add magazines that are not indexed - for books we use the number of Bookshelves plus the number of index requests as the basis of our Indexing chart. Each book is a separate entity so that is the only way we can judge whether a book should be indexed. But magazines are part of a long series so we can tell by the number of members adding them to their Bookshelf whether we should continue to index them or not.
We added Vegetarian Times as a member said they wanted to index it so they requested those 4 issues to be added. Once we added them they changed their mind. If you think you would like to index them then we would be delighted to add them going forward and we could add the back issues from 2012. We are happy to do the same for any magazine a member would like to index. We have a UK magazine Food and Travel that an EYB member is diligently indexing.
You can also suggest magazines you would like to see indexed on the Forum topic How to suggest magazines for indexing? Sometimes when a promising new food magazine is launched we will start indexing it and see how many members add it - e.g. we started indexing the Australian magazine Feast as soon as it launched last year and it has proved very popular with our members.
