There was a great website called gourmetsleuth.com . Amongst other things, it was very useful for suggesting substitutes for ingredients that were hard to find, or that I'd run out of, & also how to make things such as buttermilk at home. That site has disappeared. I've found others that give limited help on common ingredients, but I'm looking for a more comprehensive site. Anyone know of a good site, please ?

I don't know of any website like it, but it's a pretty useful idea. The website is still on internet archive ( https://web.archive.org/...etsleuth.com/ingredients). You can't use search bars or anything like that, but the ingredient links are still clickable if you go through the A-Z listing and look your ingredients up manually. Just a workaround in a pinch.

Thanks very much, that's so useful.
