I'm not sure what to think of this new feature. I don't understand why you'd need a random recipe unless you can filter by course. I tried it, then clicked back (to my recipes list) and typed in "mackerel". I expected lots of mackerel recipes but got just one at random. In order to switch off the random feature, I had to select "my recipes" again. I don't really like this.

OK, so you can filter by course (or anything else, I presume) but I still don't like the fact that you can't get off the random feature by using the back button to your complete list. I find it annoying.

I agree, it can't be reset except by using the x to reset the whole search. I've also had some issues with the "randomness" of the recipe - it seems to choose a recipe from the first couple of page, rather than something truly random.

I am looking forward to using it tho, once the bugs are ironed out.

I have asked for developers for suggestions to get around these two issues.

I agree with Ganga108.  This is not producing a truly random result.  Everything is from the first few pages of my recipes.  Besides a few online recipes, every result is from the Cake Bible.

When using the button for all of the recipes in my bookshelf, I notice it only generates recipes from the first cookbook on the list.

We are dealing with the issues so there is no need to post about the same issues already logged. Of course, if you have a new issue, post away.

I have had the same issues that others have described but I also love this feature. Easy way to get inspiration if I'm looking for, say, a main dish. Also like that I can use it with filters because I have a dairy allergy in my household.

I think the issue might be fixed? I tried searching "mackerel", got 829 results on my bookshelf, then sorted by "Random" and it appeared to work.

Thanks Jane for facilitating this change! I know I'll personally use it frequently.

Just adding another big thank you to Jane/EYB for this...I also just did some test searches by ingredient and it worked for me.  I'm excited to start using this feature.

The new random sort is working but the random pick - one recipe - is still being worked on. Should be up soon though.

The random sort is wonderful. Thank you, Jane!

Has the button been removed while it's being worked on? I do not see it. Is this a case where I need to clear the cache?

It has been removed and will be back as soon as the glitches are fixed.

It seems that the random sort option has disappeared.

It turns out the issues are much more deep-rooted than we hoped so we are putting this new feature on hold. Since an app is in development we hope to incorporate random recipe selection and sort into that, while also improving the feature on the website, before we reinstate it.

Ah, bummer. Let us know when it's back, I look forward to playing with it.
