Tim Burton's White Queen based on Nigella?   Go to last post Go to last unread

According to an article in The Food Section the character of the White Queen, played by Anne Hathaway in Tim Burton's new film, Alice in Wonderland is inspired by Nigella.  I'm seeing the movie next week so I'll report back.  Anyone else seen the movie and noticed a similiarity?  What will give it away - the way she seductively licks the mixing spoon or her midnight raids on the fridge?

Yes I saw it today. It was fun. You needed to accept that it is inspired by, rather than a recreation of Lewis Carroll, and take it on it's own terms. It was also one of those movies where you have fun spotting the famous British actor voicing the part and/or disguised under layers of make up. We didn't have a kid to take, so shamelessly went anyway. I certainly see where the Nigella Lawson interpretation of the White Queen character came from, and maybe I recognised a couple of Nigella-type gestures/expressions in the cooking scene. However, I have to conclude that no-one since Marilyn Monroe has known so well how to flirt with the camera as Nigella, bless her... I'm curious to hear Jane's update on the subject.

Saw the movie tonight - in 3D at the Imax so a great experience.  I enjoyed it though Johnny Depp's break dancing was bizarre.  Yes, it was fun spotting the voices of British actors - my 14-year old daughter nudged me when the caterpillar spoke - "It's Professor Snape".  But back to Nigella/White Queen - I could definitely see the inspiration when she was concocting the potion, though I don't remember Nigella spitting into her food as the final seasoning.
