Re: bookshelves / storage -- When I joined EYB there were probably sixty cookbooks here, and now there are just about twice that many. [My Bookshelf in EYB is much bigger, because it contains wishlists and books of interest at the library and at friends'.] Have just reached the physical limits of the convenient bookshelves, so it's time to slow way down on acquisitions and cull some of the lesser-used (&/or convert them to Kindle).
Because I volunteer at a monthly book sale at our library, I'm exposed to great bargains too often to kid myself that there won't be more incoming cookbooks. But there are five to ten that wouldn't be terribly missed, and that'll create enough space for library sale finds.
Usually, I have no trouble waiting to acquire a book until it's been around a while, even a decade. But this year I gave myself All Under Heaven for Christmas because there's really nothing like it, and I know it will be such enjoyable winter reading. Have learned a ton already.
