Well I guess, having just purchased a heap of books from the Brisbane Lifeline Book Fest, that my collection will find its way back there .. the book fair is still on - they have some great stuff - the cookery section is the biggest section - for those in Brisbane, its worth a check over!

I have a niece who has been loving the thought of my books for some time. They will go to her.

A note to Sarah..... who is a member and my sister....

You can come and have your pick of my cookbooks.  And while I'm still alive, please feel free to borrow .. but return.

I haven't thought about mine, I suppose my daughter will take her pick and donate the rest. My husband doesn't cook *at all* so he wouldn't need them.

One of my neighbors was cleaning out her aunt's house after she passed and dropped of a couple of boxes of her boooks (including cookbooks) for my "Little Free Library." I thought that was pretty nice. I like to have a stash on hand to swap out books if the selection gets stale or low. Cookbooks usually move out of my LFL pretty quickly so those are good to have as backups.

If you treasure your cookbooks like we do, I would make sure someone who loves to cook as much as you do gets at least a few and the rest can be donated to a culinary school where they will be treasured and used by passionate cooks and students.

I have often thought about this. I have no children and before reading this very interesting thread I thought I was going to donate my collection to the library of Villarrobledo, my grandmother´s town in La Mancha, but now I think that maybe they will be more cherished yes, to donate them to a culinary school.

I wonder if a Senior Center (day program), nursing home, or similar would enjoy a donation.  I know a LOT of seniors who miss their cookbooks, above all other items they left behind when they went into a healthcare facility.
