Much as _The Flavor Bible_ sourced their data from individual chefs and other experts to pair ingredients, Eat Your Books has a trove of meta data that could be used to take that concept to the next level.
The number of book shelves the reference is on and other data could be used to determine the quality of the ingredient pairing to determine where it ranks on the scale.
Something I could play with for hours would be watching pairing changes by filtering on my book shelf versus different countries and cuisines.
