I am curious to know how long it typically takes to index a new recipe from a blog? I recently made Cheesy Potato Kulcha from Food52, a recipe posted January 7 2021, and have been waiting to review it and post a photo.

Hi Barb!

Thanks for alerting us to this missing recipe. It has now been indexed and you can find it here in the EYB Library

We rely on updates from each blog's RSS feed to keep track of all the new recipes that need to be indexed, and there is approximately a 1 day delay for that. So, most new blog recipes get indexed the day after they are published (give or take!)

Food52 isn't as straightforward as other food blogs though since it is such a large food website rather than a traditional blog where there is a single post (at most) each day. For Food52, we only index "Test-Kitchen Approved" recipes, not all recipes that appear on the site. Of all the blogs we index, this one is probably the most likely for there to be an additional delay or for recipes to slip through the cracks because of the way their RSS feed is set up. I'll take a closer look at it this week and see if checking the site manually would be warranted as well.

Please do report any other missing recipes you come across -- as long as they are designated "Test-Kitchen Approved" they should definitely be added to EYB. And please let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks so much Christine! That also explains why there are other 'recipes' that don't get indexed like the Preserved Citrus article which had an intriguing photo of preserved blood oranges by Alana Chernila but with a link to Janet Elsbach's blog A Raisin and a Porpoise. I made them and they're beautful.
