Anyone here like black garlic? I am addicted to them. First had them Kyushu which is a southern island of Japan two years ago. They have great garlic too. Since then i order Korean ones via Amazon. Since we live so close to the garlic capital of US (only hour south of us to Gilroy), I decided on using the locally grown garlic to make them myself after my return from Japan. Amazon sells electric black garlic makers. I plan to use it out on my deck because of the smell the first 4-5 days in the machine.

Love it ... and have a super black garlic eggplant recipe from a local restaurant.  Let us know how the homemade black garlic works out. What I read had discouraged me but that was when one had to improvise.

Do you also bake? If so, you might want to consider a bread proofer. They cost about the same as a fermenter on amazon. Mine also folds up.


I haven't made black garlic in mine (yet), but it's been very useful. I live in an older house in Montreal and proofing bread in the winter used to be a chore.

I am a Spaniard, of course I love garlic and love the black one as well, but never tried to do it at home, here it is easy to buy it nowadays. They produce it in La Mancha especially.
