Have a recipe that includes the use of Maggi seasoning. I've checked the ingredients list for this seasoning and to be honest it's not something I wish to eat.

Is there a suitable alternative?

Thanx

Equal parts of Worcestershire and soy (or tamari) sauces.

Or Kitchen Bouquet to which you probably have the same concerns as with Maggi.

It depends what you are making. You are looking for something with an umami punch. You could replace it with miso, a little black vinegar, dark soy, dried shiitakes (rehydrated) etc or a mixture of these.

In addition to what's already been posted:

  • liquid aminos

  • dried mushroom powder with soy sauce

  • kombu (do not boil until kombu is removed)
