15 second response delays   Go to last post Go to last unread

Today for every interaction I’ve been able to count 15 elephants before starting to get a response.

I’m pretty sure it is on your side. Is there some issue with your scaling? 15 seconds response times is getting very, very close to unusable

Please try to address the issue.

Same issue being experience here in Australia.. really, really slow across ALL browsers (Edge/Chrome/Firefox)... not Happy!

Very, very slow to the point of not being useable.  Started noticing this the last two days mostly.  I am using safari.

I just joined in the last 2 days and am finding this site cumbersome and very very slow. I eneterd 110 books and its been painful. In fact sometimes the fields have dropped the data and I am getting scolding messages from EYB staff to put the data in. 


THEN-- I need to also know HOW do I correct this entry on my shelf? The EYB staff incorrectly made my entry "volume 1" of Mastering the Art of FRench Cooking--but I have the earliest vol. Mine is the original and NOT labeled vol 1. And the authors are in a different order--they are alphabetical. 


This isn't the first book thats been mislabelled. I have others with 2 authors and the entry lists only the first.

Many apologies to all our members who are experiencing this site slowdown. Our server company cannot identify any issue so I need our developers to try to find the reason. They aren't in until tomorrow so I ask your patience until we can get this resolved. I can assure new members that the site does not usually run this slow and we will make every effort to get it back to full speed ASAP.


AtOurTable - I'm sorry that you felt scolded when I asked you to add missing data for books you had added to the Library. It is much easier for the member adding the book to add all the data for the book they own - for missing data we have to track the info online and we can't be sure that matches the edition in your hand, especially when the book is pre-ISBN, as this one was. I was not aware when emailing you that data entered was not getting saved and that is another issue that our developers will need to look into. Although not labelled as such, your book is Volume One because a second volume of Mastering was added later. Your first edition wouldn't have that designation though subsequent editions did. I have removed Volume One from the title. I listed the authors in the same order as on the cover that I found online. If your cover is different please send a scan so I can replace it. There may be errors in book listings in the EYB Library - missing authors, typos, etc as most of our book data has been imported from Amazon and Nielsen and they have errors. We are happy to make any corrections needed, please just email us.

Also having this issue from the Netherlands since a few days. Thanks for keeping us posted, hope its resolved quickly :)

For any newcomers, hang in there!  I have been a member of EYB since the very beginning, and wouldn't remain sane without it.  I live in California, have a Swedish internet protection service (AVG), and often wonder if I am being "protected" to excess.  Probably not.  So...wait, just wait.  It will be worth it.


Jane, if it will be of help to the developers, I noticed the slowdown about 2 weeks ago.  For the previous month or so, I had received a "Do Not Open" message when clicking on my pre-set task bar EYB address.  I can't remember the notification words exactly, but it said something like "....this site does not have a secure https: address".  I tried erasing the pre-set and re-entering it as I ignored the warning and re-entered the shortcut from the EYB site address bar.  Nope.  Tried Googling it and going with that instruction.  Nope, same warning.  Tried typing in the long URL.  Nada.  Then, after weeks of trying and worrying about entering the site, I ignored it and just used EYB as always.  About 2 weeks ago, suddenly I could enter without a security warning...but the refresh pace was agonizingly slow (still is).  Does this help?

The site is now functioning normally. Apologies again for the slowness over the weekend.
