I'm just wondering how long it takes a book to move from "indexing now" status to "indexed". I'm sweating on one that is taking over six months to index. The book in question is "Asian After Work" by Adam Liaw.

I completely understand your frustration.  This is a book that a member volunteered to index in December 2013 so it should have been finished long ago.  We will chase her up and if she is unable to finish it soon we will take it over.

Hi Jane, I have the same question about Secrets of Nyonya Cooking any news on this one?  If it's stuck somewhere, I'm willing to volunteer to complete it?

Sharifah - that is another book in member indexing limbo.  We are chasing the member to see if they plan to finish it soon.  If not then we will unassign and let you know that you can request to finish it.

If any other members have books on their Bookshelves for which member indexing has stalled (i.e. ithe book has had the Indexing Now status for a long time) and they would like to complete the indexing, please post here.

Hi

Is there a list of books currently in the process of indexing on the site somewhere?  Thanks

Yes, cadfael - use the filters on the top right of the Library or your Bookshelf books tab - select Indexing Now.  You then see everything that is either assigned to professional indexers (or we know we will be assigning when the book is published) or has been requested to index by a member.  If the book is on less than 50 Bookshelves or is an older book then it's likely to be member indexed.

So let us know if you are awaiting any and we will chase up the member who is indexing.  I think some members have an initial burst of enthusiasm which wears off so either need a prompt or us taking the book back if someone else wants to take it over.

I have to admit I am falling behind badly on the latest book I am indexing myself. I started on The Borough Market Cookbook: Meat and Fish in 2012, maybe even 2011, but all kinds of things interfered (my own health, moving house, and then my son's health).

If no one is in a hurry for this book, I'll be happy to finish it, but it will take more time. If anyone wants it quicker, I wouldn't mind transferring it.

Like Wester, I'm struggling with Book of Tofu.  Lots and lots of recipes and hard to read (old book).  I'm more than half way finished but if anyone wants to take over that's fine by me :-).  Otherwise, I won't be able to fnish until after this summer is over.
