I was so thrilled some time ago when I searched by own recipes and found several Georgian recipes in Paula Wolfert's book Cooking of the Eastern Mediterranean, and somehow found several Georgian recipes in that book that did not in clude Georgian in the title. I was able to bookmark them as Georgian.

Today after a discussion on Chowhound about Georgian food, I searched again in my own profile for Georgian in this book (not using my bookmark) and found only recipes with the world Georgian in the title. What did I do that got me the "Georgian" in category before?  I was *so so * grateful for that!

What you did last time must have been to use a Filter. If you search that book using the ethnicity filter "Georgian" (found under Filter by --> Ethnicity --> Europe --> Georgian) you get 28 recipes including those not with the word in the title. If you just type "Georgian" into the search box, it is only a word search and cannot call up recipes that do not include the actual word -- yielding only 12 recipes in your search results.

Our indexers add the relevant ethnicity category to recipes that have the ethnicity in the title as well as to recipes that indicate it somewhere else in the text of the recipe/book/chapter/header notes so that members can search more effectively for recipes from different cuisines.

thanks so much. I always forget about the filters when I haven't used them recently. *So* useful!  I love the ethnicity feature of category......it's a big extra step for indexers but adds so much value.

I wonder if you could add a tutorial for filter situations and use Georgian or something similar as an example?  I hate to think about EYB participants not fully understanding or using this amazing feature!

thanks again.

There is a video tutorial in Help about how to use filters and bookmarks in your searches.  But maybe we need to do a blog post and mention it in the newsletter to bring it to more members' attention.  For any member who doesn't subscribe to the newsletter, it's very useful - we announce new site features and summarize all the current giveaways, articles, best blog posts of the month, etc.  And it's only once a month!  You can update your email subscriptions from your Account, which you access from the dropdown menu under your username at top right.
