Exporting a list of books on my bookshelf   Go to last post Go to last unread

Forgive me if this information is already posted somewhere on the website but I wan't able to find it quickly.

Is it possible to export a list of all books on my bookshelf? I'm about to undertake a project of reorganizing/relocating/shelving boxes of cookbooks that have remained unpacked since my last move. As I do this, I'd love to have a physical list of my EYB bookshelf so I could notate if I've entered them into EYB and their new physical location for bookmarking in EYB. Exporting to an Excel spreadsheet would be ideal.

Thanks in advance.

Bumping this thread up to see if anyone can give me a hint on how to export a list of books on my EYB bookshelf. Thanks!

not sure if it's possible: maybe email [email protected] All I can think of is "print screen" for each screen of your bookshelf and that would be a realy painful process (almost as painful as moving/repacking!)

Apologies redbird, I'm not sure how we missed your original post.  You can do a condensed view of your books - you can see the different views under the Sort by.. box - condensed is the one on the left.  The condensed view will be much easier to print - there are 200 results on each EYB page (though this will be more pages of paper).  If you then sort them by author or title, it should be easy to print the lists out and then mark them up as you require.  I'm soon going to be doing the same thing with my collection when I get my new bookshelves built in my new home - I'm feeling bereft with all my books still in boxes.

Since this post was last dated 3 years ago, has there been any updates to being able to export a list of cookbooks?  I too would like a list of my cookbooks so that I can store them in that same order.  I can locate a recipe with this great website, but sometimes I can't find the book.  I also would like to be able to check if I've missed marking some cookbooks for my bookshelf.

Cookie24 - you cannot download your Bookshelf but I have emailed you an Excel Spreadsheet of your books.

I had a similar issue and have now added a bookmark to tell me the location of each book ! All I have to do now is remember to put the book back in the same place!

Has this feature been added? I would like to export my bookshelf to excel.

I moved and downsized this winter, and in the process donated many of my unsued cookbooks.  Unfortunately, I can't find an easy way to edit my Bookshelf in EYB.  It's been a while since this question has been asked & answered, so I was wondering if there is any update to the answer.

How can I best get a list of what is on my bookshelf so that I can compare it to the actual books that are left and update my bookshelf in EYB?

Hi Jane -

May I get an excel file with all my cookbooks?  I am trying to organize my library, so I can find the cookbooks once I find a recipe!

Thanks,

Catherine

You can download your Bookshelf to a csv file, which opens as an Excel file. This is explained here in Help. Though another way to easily find a book is to create Bookmarks for locations and apply those to the books. Then when you find a recipe you want, click the book title and the bookmark tells you where it is. That way you don't have to open another file to find where the book is.

Hi Jane, I was really pleased to read that the recipes can be printed and downloaded. I wonder if you'd consider including in the CSV file, the bookmarks that the user has included for each recipe. At the moment it contains just the recipes, the book and the page. I would love to be able to filter the file on, say, recipes I have not cooked before. Or those I cooked in July, 2019 (two bookmarks that I have).

Also could you please consider including the Source for personal recipes, even the URL if it is a link? That would be very helpful.
