Hello


I am going for business in Edinburgh, this time ... just for a few days and I am staying over the week-end because I have never been before.


Would you have any recommendation? I won't really have cooking facilities so have to eat out


I know only haggis (but have never tried), salmon, Angus steak and whisky for specialties, but I am sure there are a lot more.


Anything to bring back as well (besides kilts and single malt)?

Thank you! That is a great start :) I have looked briefly and it looks amazing.... which is confirmed by the fact there are hardly any tables left, i'd better book quickly!

I am staying from this Wed to Sunday night so loads of occasions to try quite a few places.

Just to add also I am staying right in the centre (Charlotte Square), though of course will be visiting around at the weekend :)

Budget wise, money is no objection (although of course I cannot Michelin star at every meal :)
I am reimbursed up to 65 a day, but then I can complete by myself of course.

I’m not from Edinburgh so you’ll need to check it’s still good, but we had a wonderful meal a little while ago at the Gardeners Cottage. Try the tasting menu.

Can’t do Edinburgh without mentioning this guy. He’s everywhere. The Scran and Scallie is great for casual food.

So unfortunately I only managed to secure reservations in The Honours (there now!) , and Aizle next week! The Honours was great... even got service in French from the manager that night :) I recommend the ox cheeks, melt in the mouth wonders ...and to take your oysters "classic".... they serve them 3 possible styles but they are SO good and SO fresh any other style is a shame.
Re-wine best quality price was the Haut Peyrous but it is discontinued, and next best is Rioja 2011 (by very far).
I recommend the place, strongly :)
