Such lovely comments! I can identify with you all, though I have only just over a hundred cookbooks! Yes, I do feel guilty, but I now try to do the 'one in one out' rule, and I buy from thrift shops much of the time. I simply love browsing through and imagining what the recipes wouls taste like, pr seeing how I can update a favourite. It's a huge wrench giving them back to the thrift shops, though, when I run out of bookshelf space and feel the need for a 'cull', but I remember the pleasure I had when I first found whatever the book was, and feel good that someone else will feel that pleasure. I find only about 50% of my collection is indexed, though, so that's frustrating. I think that I'm always searching for the perfect book, of course - the one that has so many of my kind of recipes that I'll never neeed another... until I spot something else and I am enticed anew! Unless I sneak them in when he's not here, my husband always says "Not ANOTHER" cookbook!? But he indulges me and puts up another shelf...
