I am going to Moscow in a few weeks and would like to know, is there any food which you would recommend trying?  I literally have no idea what people eat in Russia!

Long overdue update on my Moscow food experience -

rabbit livers - so good!

marinated mixed wild mushrooms - amazing!

lard, yes lard, flavoured with rosemary and spread on dark bread.  This was delcious but probably not what the doctor ordered.

A Georgian rice pilaf, which was moreish and delicious.

Very good tomatoes, which was a surprise.

Fresh herbs always on the table

the best airport food ever

dried fish - a very popular snack

lots of special mineral waters

Different and unfamiliar dairy products such as kefir

'Berry juices'

Tea from a samovar

Moscow is  a much wealthier place than many other parts of Russia so perhaps the food is different elsewhere.

Thanks for the report. Some items I am unfamiliar with. A few remind me of Finnish food e.g. berry juices.
