Hers is a name I keep coming across, but she is not really a household name in the UK.

I thought to look and see what books by this remarkable 102 yr old are available, and find most are out of print, and resellers on Amazon are asking quite stupid prices - £600 plus for example. If there is such demand that some one might contemplate paying that sort of price, why do the publishers not reprint, or are her books just so out of fashion in today's health conscious days that she has been blacklisted?

Maida Heather passed away recently, but her latest book - Happiness Is Baking - is available in both Kindle and hardcover formats on Amazon US.

I am pretty sure that prices have shot up due to her recent death.  I looked at books by her even late last year and they were nowhere near the prices they want now.  Her newest book should be pretty easy to get and reasonable since it was just published.   Other than that, I would check out Thriftbooks, AbeBooks or Alibris (but their shipping to the UK might be pricy).   I have a couple of her books, my favorite is Maida Heatter's Cakes.  Every recipe i have made for it has been a hit with people.   That being said, she is really famous for her East 62nd lemon cake and that recipe is available online from NYT because they interviewed her and had permission or Epicurious or other sites.  Another of her most wellknown recipes that is relatively easy to find due to interviews and stories about her is her Polka Dot Cheesecake.
