I have had great experiences ordering lots of things (including vanilla beans) from "Silk Road Spice Merchants" out of Calgary (a quick Google search will get you there easily). I started shopping with them when I couldn't find any dried chilies of any sort in my small town Ontario grocery stores and once I started browsing I have bought many different products. I am a huge advocate of shopping locally but when you absolutely can't get something......they are great to deal with, shipping is free if you order a minimum amount (and pretty quick) and they have a great selection of all kinds of high quality & specialty products. BUT ....& there is a BUT..... If you go to their website today, you may get the message that they have suspended taking orders due to the overwhelming numbers since the pandemic protocols started (they also have brick & mortar stores that have of course closed). They are basically accepting a number of orders and then stopping til they catch up and then opening the order / cart again. It is a bit hit and miss but they suggest you keep checking back and there is a simple password on the home page to allow you to at least browse. I do actually enjoy just reading about products I've never heard about. Also - they do carry 2 different kinds of vanilla beans and they explain pretty clearly what the difference between them is.
