I am a big fan of Lucky Peach. It was quite a brave venture, to begin publishing a new magazine at a time when
print publications are considered by some to be dying. But, they were so enthusiastically received that they ran out of the first issue in many places.
What I love about it after reading the first issue: excellent, creative, humorous storytelling/writing; the issue is packed with good design and illustration; and I learned in depth about ramen, how it is eaten, prepared, revered and served in many parts of Japan.
Print publications are possibly "dying" in some genres, but I strongly believe that in cooking and art, we will have books and magazines for a long time coming. There is just no adequate digital substitute yet, nor will there be for some time, and I think/hope that the sales of these reflect that.
