I think Galangal may have been mis-identified as another name for Ginger. I searched for galangal recipes and most of the results contain no Galangal, but do contain Ginger.

It's not that galangal and ginger are linked but that alternative names for galangal are Thai ginger and Siamese ginger. There is an anomoly in searches for linked ingredients that it looks for associated words. We have new developers who are going to try to resolve this issue.

Thank you, that makes sense. I might suggest allowing "exact word(s)" as a search parameter or a simplified form of GREP (the developers will know what GREP is).

I'm having a similar issue - I have fish fillets and bean sprouts, recipe results swamped out by fish sauce and can't work out how to eliminate them

Happy to use fish sauce - but today not the pork and chicken most recipes require

StokeySue - you should use the filters in the right column which are a direct match to the ingredient in the database. The word search looks for instances of the word in recipe title, ingredients, book title or author. If you want to be more accurate in those searches then put the words in speech marks e.g. "fish fillets" "bean sprouts". Adding the filters gives an exact match to the ingredient. So in your case you would select White fish under Ingredients / Fish & seafood. Then add the ingredients in speech marks. This is that search of the Library Online Recipes.

You can learn more about filters by following Tutorial 3 - the Tutorials are accessed from the green Need Help? button at bottom right (not available on phones). There is also this Help section.
