Bookmarks are the single most important feature for me on EYB. I have zillions (well, over a thousand) books, and finding them is HUGE! I just built a library (room) in my house and am moving the majority of my stash into all-wall shelving. Some still reside here-and-there in other shelving in the house. I have a large list of private bookmarks, including at which location each book is shelved. Each book also has its bookmark as to type, author, etc....lots of bookmarks. Since I still cannot resist buying new books (thank you, new Goodwill store next to my grocery, where every book is $1.99), I have new ones arriving every week when I grocery shop. Many are currently piled on tables in the library, awaiting definitive shelving. While they wait, I look at every book (laying around?) to see if I have entered it into the EYB data base. I do this by placing a small neon-colored sticker on the first page of each book as I enter it into the "import books" list. That way, I know this is a part of EYB. I label the dot stickers with pencil as to their final shelving place. Books with stickers have gone into EYB, but no ID pencil mark means they are still likely to be floating around, homeless. I do the same with Kindles. Each kindle book must have a tick on the electronic list indicating that that book is also entered into EYB. The physical stickers come off easily, but my "recycles" go back to Goodwill and new customers may wonder why there are little colorful dots stuck on the cover pages. Love Eat Your Books. I collect cookbooks. Now I need more time to cook and eat from them.
