Ha! You are definitely not alone.  I used to bring home lots of cookbooks and cooking magazines from Japan when younger ie be able to lift lots of weight and when some airlines allowed higher weight allowance. Now, I order cookbooks and food magazines from Amazon Japan every month.  Sometime,  only bring back older cookbooks I purchase there at Books Off.  But, I still dedicate one luggage to food items I bring back.

The one problem I have is I go through Post-It page markers like they're going out of style! It's always fun to go back on a book I read through a few years back and look at the recipes I had marked.

At this point, when I get a new cookbook, whether physical or digital, I sit down and go through it with EYB at my side on either my tablet or phone and bookmark recipes as I go. When I'm finished I give it a "Reviewed" book bookmark. Occassionally when I get ambitious, I'll go through one of my older cookbooks from before I joined EYB and do the same.

Has anyone in the Washington D.C. area thought about the fact that they could get a Library of Congress reader card and essentially have access to all the cookbooks, with EYB acting as your card catalog and index? It's a research library, not a lending library, but if there was something you really wanted, it's doable. If I lived in the area, I would totally do it, if for no other reason, than to access the reading room even once.
