'Don't show' filter for 'I've cooked this' (or other bookmarks)?   Go to last post Go to last unread

Most of the time when I'm searching for a recipe, I'd like to cook something I haven't made before. In this case it'd be really handy to have a filter where I could remove recipes I've bookmarked with 'I've cooked this' from the search results. Currently only the opposite is possible (to my knowledge). Any chance of implementing a 'Don't show' filter option for bookmarks? Thanks!

This isn't a request that has come up before so I'm not sure it would be worth the cost/effort. The recipes you have tagged as "I've cooked this" have a green chef's hat before the recipe title so it's easy to discount them when scanning your recipe results.

I also often (very often) wish that there was a "I haven't cooked this before" option.


I also long for an advanced search capability that allows search on multiple tags.

A more general idea would be to allow a NOT INCLUDE  on any bookmark. This would allow us to tag a recipe we just don't want to see, like "DONTSHOW" and then request that search results don't include this tag.

Adding a vote for this suggestion — I'm on a quest to prepare as many recipes from my cookbooks as possible, so this feature would be invaluable for me. It would help me remove recipes I've "completed" from my searches to focus on what I have yet to prepare.

We are currently working on enhancements to the Bookmarks functionality and one is to be able to exclude bookmarks. So this would satisfy these requirements. We hope it will go live in the next few weeks.

Just checking in to say that as a new user, more filtering around bookmarks was one of the first things I thought of that I'd like to see. Excited to hear about enhanced bookmarks coming soon.

I just stumbled into this convo and am curious about the "green chef's hat before the recipe title" for the "I've cooked this" bookmark. When I first joined EYB years ago I created a personal bookmark for "Recipes I've cooked." I'm not sure when the "I've cooked this" bookmark appeared, but since I was already using the one I created I stuck with that. But I like the idea of the green chef's hat appearing so I can easily scan and see the ones I've cooked. I just tried it with two recipes and don't see a green chef's hat anywhere. Is this feature still working?

babyfork - Bookmarks are a function of your Bookshelf so you need to be in your Bookshelf to see the chef's hat. Click My Bookshelf Recipes and you will see the chef's hat before every recipe. It will be gray unless you have added a "I want to cook this" bookmark when it will be orange or added a "I've cooked this" bookmark when it will be green. Select the "I've cooked this" bookmark filter and you will see your two recipes with green hats.
