Would love to see a filter that would sort by seasonality.

As an example it now being summer if I search for bean recipes I'd obviously prefer salad type recipes rather than say cassoulet.

In the Filters click on Occasion and you'll see Seasons and all 4 seasons are listed. I find it a really useful search facility.

Wow! Thanks for that.... hugely helpful.

I would add the caveat that our indexers don't assume seasonal tags for recipes and only add them if specified by the author or the book subject. But the filters will give you lots of other options to fine-tune your searches e.g. in your example add the filters Salads under Recipe types / Side dishes.

Thanks its not perfect but it does narrow the results to a more manageable  number. Thankfully more and more cookbooks seem to be ordering recipes into seasonality which has got to be a good thing in my book.

Is seasonal searching adjusted for location? Whilst I am in the northern hemisphere there are other EYBers in the southern and for them the seasons are flipped.

ThePatheticBaker - - I'm not sure if you are joking but I'll assume it's a serious question. The seasons are the same wherever you are in the world i.e. summer is summer whether it falls in June-Aug or Dec-Feb.

It is/was a serious question. While meterological seasons are similiar no matter whether in the northern or southern hemispheres but seasonal events are not. For example, Christmas here in the UK (and US) is a winter festival but in Australia is in summer. Likewise seasonal (indigenous) ingredients change too. There is something of cultural mixed in amongst seasons too.

Other factors affect food seasonality too. Here in the UK we are experiencing another short heatwave with temperatures rising to 35ºC yesterday this is a unusual event but over in Korea, for example, it is a regular daily event in their summer. Although with climate change we Brits will likely have to adjust to higher summer temperatures but the Koreans will also have to adjust to even higher one.
