How can I add this recipe?   Go to last post Go to last unread

Hello,

I have cut this recipe out from a magazine and would like to add it to my EYB bookshelf:

https://www.eatyourbooks...60/pesto-chicken-lasagne

From the index page linked above however, I cannot see how to add it to my bookshelf, there is no option to do so.

I see that it also exists online here https://www.bbcgoodfood..../recipes/chicken-lasagne

When I try to use the bookmarklet to add the recipe to Online Recipes (where it doesn't exist yet on EYB), I get a non-descript error message. (I can add other online recipes with the bookmarklet, it's just this one that gives the error). Is it because the recipe already exists in the EYB library as a magazine entry?

Can you tell me the best way I can add this recipe to my library?

I have added an Online Recipe link so you can now add the recipe to your Bookshelf. You can add a personal note that you have the recipe as a clipping.

If you have any other recipe that is not available online and you want to add it to your Bookshelf, you will need to re-index it as a Personal Recipe, explained here in Help.

Thanks for the fast reply, that's great

To clarify: it's not possible to add individual magazine recipes, such as from my first link, to a bookshelf?

Also, is there a way other than the bookmarklet to add an online recipe, in the case that the bookmarklet throws an error?

You can only add individual recipes to your Bookshelf if they are available as an Online Recipe. So once I had added the link to the BBC site for your recipe, it could now be added to your Bookshelf. If you ever find an online recipe or collection of recipes, that could be added as links to a cookbook or magazine indexed recipe, email us the URL of the EYB recipe and the URL of the online recipe and we will add it. Then you can add the recipe to your Bookshelf. Unfortunately we cannot allow members to add the links themselves as this would be a spammer's dream. We have had this happen when spammers could add links on their bio or add links on the Forum - we would get them joining as Free members and deluging us with spam links.

If the Bookmarklet shows an error page, that is because that site has a block against any data being scraped. In which case your only option is to add it as a Personal Recipe. You are able to add the link when you index the Personal Recipe - so the recipe is now on your Bookshelf (but only yours) and there is a link to the full recipe. Because only you see a Personal Recipe, you can add as much or as little data as you wish.

Thank you for this explanation

I'm getting an error message when I try to add this online recipe to the database:

https://centexcooks.com/scrambled-egg-casserole/

Am I doing something wrong? I haven't used the bookmarklet in a long time, although it looks like I can still use it to add other online recipes. The error message says, "Error! Something's Gone Wrong...We're Sorry. Your page has not loaded or your search has taken longer to return than is normal. Click here to return to the previous page. If the problem persists, please contact us at info@eatyourbooks.com and we will assist you as soon as we can."

In my reply (three above this) I explained " If the Bookmarklet shows an error page, that is because that site has a block against any data being scraped. In which case your only option is to add it as a Personal Recipe. You are able to add the link when you index the Personal Recipe - so the recipe is now on your Bookshelf (but only yours) and there is a link to the full recipe. Because only you see a Personal Recipe, you can add as much or as little data as you wish."

However because this was a very simple recipe, I added it to the Library for you and you can now add it to your Bookshelf - https://www.eatyourbooks.../scrambled-egg-casserole
