Weird lagginess sometimes when accessing EYB   Go to last post Go to last unread

Sometimes EYB pages, particularly the home page and the blog, will hang for 10-30 seconds before loading.  This isn't enough to cause me any real trouble, but I know y'all have been troubleshooting some performance issues, so lemme know if you want me to log anything in particular.

Accessing the home page lags 15-20 seconds at time too.

I've also noticed this... it's frustrating, having to wait 10 seconds or so before I can get to my recipes.

Could be caused by anything not only server sleepiness. Different network route from you to the server(s). Load sharing by your provider at particular times of day. Navvie putting a spade through a netowrk cable and data packets lost needing to be resent. Myriad of reasons over and above server response.

If you notice the Home Page loading very slowly, i.e. more than 15 seconds, could you please email us with the time of day it happened (plus your time zone). We can then investigate whether this was a site issue or something specific to your location. The Home Page will always be a bit slower to load than other pages as so much data from different places has to be loaded. But it should not be taking more than a few seconds at worst.

Maxineanna - if you want to go straight to your Bookshelf Recipes when opening EYB, save that page as your bookmarked landing page then you do not need to wait for the Home Page to load.
