I like keeping notes and ratings separate.  I like that the notes are generally detailed and thoughtful.  I think if we had to make a note when rating a dish, there would be a lot of not very useful comments like "yum." 


Also, sometimes I rate dishes that I cooked a long time ago when I happen to see them while browsing EYB. I don't type additional comments because it is been awhile, and I can't remember the details.  I like being able to do that.


 


I would, however, love it if we could undo an accidental rating.

Trisha, I wouldn't impose a rating with a note, I would simply not allow a member to rate a recipe without adding a note. My suggestion was to embed the option to add a rating within the notes functionality.  There will definitely be notes where a rating would not be applicable.  



 


Thanks Breadcrumbs.  I still don't mind having the notes decoupled from the ratings though- like I said before, it gives another avenue for people to weigh in that might not otherwise if they had to write a note.  Ideally, you would have both, but I think the ratings are better than nothing.
