No Anightowl you don't have OCD, you are just incredibly efficient and organized. I have used color coding to organize files at my office for years. You can see immediately what type of files you are looking for. So it makes perfect sense to me and is a brilliant idea to help sort your cookbooks.
I color code everything! ;) Too bad we can't post photos here - I could show you a photo of my pantry - all my beans and grains are in the same sized cannister, and they are alphabetized...and I have a spreadsheet for the beans that say what kind of things they are best for. Now, in my defense, I'm in the Rancho Gordo bean club, and I grow several varieties of beans myself, but still, my husband thinks it's pretty darn funny. My daughter just rolls her eyes.
