I just stumbled across a great Little Free Library find: the 2019 edition of Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything. It's in nearly perfect shape... Except for one page with huge, red food stains! And the previous owner seems to have closed the book before properly cleaning and drying the stain. It didn't bleed onto the surrounding pages, at least, and it's fairly glossy/waxy paper.
I'm pretty careful with my cookbooks, and would normally rush to clean it up if I did get anything on them. Plus, somebody else's old food stains creep me out just a bit.
Any suggestions on how to clean your cookbook pages? Thanks in advance!
