I would be interested to know how others, once they have found a recipe, then find the relevant book in a vast collection?  How do you arrange your books, I have all mine in size order so they look neater. Sometimes I can spend 20 minutes looking for a book!!!

Some EYB members add a bookmark for each book's location: basement bookcase 1 (or 2, 3), living room bookcase, blue guest bedroom bookcase, etc. You could get more detailed to the shelf level too.

Sometimes I check the picture of the book on EYB - that can help to locate it in the bookshelves.

I generally know the location of my books. Very infrequently, it takes me more effort in locating but I find it within 15-30 min. I arranged them first by languages.  For me, that would be Japanese and English.  Then by methods or country.  For example, all Greek, Hawaiian, German, Eastern European, Mexica, etc.  I also keep all soups, salads, pastas, noodles, dumplings, desserts, breads, pizzas in their own area.

This is what I did - kitchen island, kitchen bookshelf etc. Unfortunately, not being supremely organized, I have a location called Missing

I don’t have as big of a collection as some, but I organize my books by topic categories that make sense to me, and sometimes categories within categories. The books need to be shifted periodically as I add more books, but I generally know which section on the shelves each category is.

This is basically what I do, baking is a section, general cooking is section, holiday, etc.  There is some overlap as there are Holiday baking books :).  Other than if I have multiple books by an author I tend to keep them together.
