Surprisingly excellent book, really great ideas for using up your veg box items.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Cumin Brussels sprouts

    • Livia on April 11, 2020

Used preserved lemon instead of lemon zest and juice. Really lovely

  • Celery - Casanova's celery risotto

    • Karine.1 on July 03, 2024

      Leftover red wine good too.

  • Globe artichoke - Raiders of the lost artichoke

    • mjes on April 19, 2018

First artichoke of the season so it's time to pull out the vegetable cookbooks that tend to get ignored. Yes, this is a standard artichoke with garlic butter recipe - but with bay leaves and peppercorns added to the water used for steaming. Subtle, pleasant flavor addition worth repeating ... and worth experimenting with.

  • Veg box on toast 1

    • mjes on April 19, 2018

I'd have titled this as "Veg Box on Toast: Beetroot, black pepper, and brie". A mild, sourdough French bread seemed to be the right choice - mine happened to have roasted garlic in it which was fine. I did my traditional roasting to cook the golden beets.

  • Broccoli - Buttery

    • mjes on April 19, 2018

A simple reminder of the value of a brown butter sauce to toss over steamed broccoli. Oh, yes.
