This book is a guidebook to the passionate, wickedly individualistic and sustainable Portland food scene, written in a rock-n-roll style by Portland food writer Karen Brooks. A foreword by Ruth Reichi encapsulates the rise of Portland's importance as a food capital. More than 50 photographs by Gideon Bosker provide visual flavour. The book includes 75 covetable recipes from the starts of the food scene, including Andy Ricker of PokPok and Kir Jensen of Sugar Cube. Essays provide an inside look at this food revolution and include profiles of the architects of the zeitgeist: chefs, mixologists, chocolatiers and daredevils. Thematic chapters reflect the core values of Portland; a lust of meat, farm-to-table, food trucks, re-thinking Asia, supper club underground, vegan baker bad girls and ultimate cocktails.
