Publishers Text

The farm house is a meeting place for everyone to come together, especially over a meal. The day always starts in the kitchen with a hearty breakfast, while the dining room is used for occasions that require a little pomp and ceremony. Entertain outdoors on the verandah or in the garden itself. Whichever room you're in, farm house cooking captures the essence of country hospitality.

Country homes, like no other, have a certain evocative feel about them, a feeling of warmth, homeliness, peace and calm, a far cry from the lives we lead in our homes in busy cities. This wonderful book takes the reader for a stroll through the home, starting at the heart of every house - the kitchen - with recipes for bread, breakfast and preserves. The verandah is the place where morning tea, afternoon tea and supper are served. The dining room is kept for more formal meals and larger gatherings of guests. Think special occasions, such as christenings, birthdays and Christmas. Last, but certainly not least, is the garden, where barbecues rule. Or perhaps a feast served on a long table, set under the trees - there is something special about this.
